Words and music, music and words

TASK 0 (CLASSROOM) - WHICH WORDS SUGGEST MUSIC TO YOU?

You must think of at least 5 words related to music (sounds, feelings, people, types, objects ...) and share them with the rest of the class, adding a post on the Padlet board (see link in the Classroom)

In a song, what is more important, the words or the music?

For some people, music comes first. They say music can move us in ways no other things can, regardless
of our gender, country, race, religion or language.

Other people say that words in all their manifestations (poems, plays, novels, great speeches...) have the power to move us and feel excited about life. Any music you add just 'decorates'.

As powerful as words can be, we have to admit that
for the majority of songs, the lyrics alone don’t
say much. But then the same can be said if we eliminate the words of a song, as so many songs are simply a combination of notes.

So, there are arguments in both directions…

In any case, you will always need words to describe how music sounds or how it makes you feel. Which words suggest music to you? Which words do you use to talk about music?
